Prom Photo shoot & Prepping~

Hey guys! So I'm here with some photos from the shoot~! These AMAZING photos were taken by the one and only Sabrina Rachel Wu. Her amazing site is here: sabrinarachelphotography.com or  http://sabrinarachelphotography.weebly.com/photo-blog

But before I go straight to talking about the photos and the shoot we had taken.. I had wanted to talk about how we got prepped for it. First things first.. I want to give a huge shout out to our stats teacher Stephanie Machado for the aMAZING nail art. It's beautiful and I'm in love.

She was absolutely amazing!

Doing our makeup and our hair was pretty rough..

Nadine had done Johanna's makeup and Melissa had done her hair.. and a lot of other stuff. As for me, I kind of did everything but instead of being a cutie I ended up looking like a hot mess with too much makeup.

Completely in love with the accessories and the hair tie! I don't think that I ever got around to showing how I made it.. but I basically used a lavender comb in hair thing and I  went about to create it the same way that I had made the corsages.. and I had added in chain accessories like I had done for the dress.

It was pretty nice!

I'll be showing you guys my favorite shots~

So nice!

Mori Clothing Customization -- Originals

Hey guys! So one of my latest art assignments had been to find a bunch of different articles of clothing and to reimagine and then reconstruct them into a pleasing piece of clothing with an eye catching design.

But before I simply go straight into posting about the progress of the outfit.. I'd like to share the original pieces of clothing.

The first piece that you see here is an old, victorian styled linen robe with a beautiful lace trim around the ends.

There are several rips and tears in the fabric, but we can make do.. no?

Next, we have a nice loose knitted, sheer long sleeved shirt from Forever 21. It's a beautiful cream-y color and the fabric itself is to die for.

I'm sure something amazing and incredibly stunning could be made out of this!

Really.. I love the qualities of it.

Next we have an old night gown. Sorry for the weird exposure and lighting! The night gown is actually a light tan/light khaki color.

It has amazing embroidery on the front along with some beating and sequins.

The textures all over the nightgown are absolutely beautiful.

Also, we have this shirt that you see above! Although... I believe I had ended up changing my mind and completely taking the shirt out as I had loved how it looked way too much. I did end up using a plain white stretchy knit shirt along with a Abercrombie (?) white flowy skirt made with a textured linen fabric for the bottom portion of the dress. Also, I ended up repainting the shoes that are shown there.. but I guess I never took photos of those myself...

Another requirement of the assignment was that I had to bring in at least 2 different types of fabrics.. and I believe I used oh so much more...

But! Here's one of the latest shots that I had taken. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.. although I can assure you that I'm aiming to recreate a dress similar to the butterfly one that I wore so many times.

Maya Fey -- Cosplay progress

Hey guys! So I'm starting to jump around on the timeline... and before I post about Johanna and myself, here are some photos of my Maya progress. The main part that you see is a customized dress shirt that was way too large on me and I decided to make use of the fabric. Unfortunately, I had no idea that I was working off of a completely different color scheme because of the reference pictures I had used.

But! The sash came out great! I'm really glad that it came out exactly like how I needed it.

The wig styling was a mess though. After I had cut Maya's bangs.. it was time to style the back of the hair. First, I had installed some extra extensions to help add in more hair to work with but it started giving me some problems. It ended up being way too heavy... and would slide off my head.. and the worst part was that because of all the styling that the wig needed in the back.. it ended up making a mess of the rest of the wig too. I tried several different TLC (tender love and care) things like hairstyling TLC sprays and different brushes (boar vs regular wig combs vs wide tooth vs etc.) and it was still a mess compared to my other wigs.. so I gave up.

It's not too bad but I have really high standards for myself... ahh the problems...

Old Mail

Hey guys, Sorry for the throwback post but I was cleaning out my room and I had found these beautiful old letters with drawings inside that I used to send back and forth with people.

Penpals were such a great thing to me back then.. it gave me something to look forward to in the mail each day.

But yeah.. that's all for this post! I don't want to go into too much detail or get too sappy about it. I really do miss those good old times though!

Corsages! -- Construction talk & Final Photos

Hey guys! So I'm back with my second post for the day and I'm happy to say that it's pretty rad to get so many things done. I'm going to keep up with the Prom posts while I'm still in the mood for them. Next thing on the list is to talk about corsages! Above are some of the items that I had used to construct them.

Actually...you're missing out on a lot of items! The photo doesn't include the formal wedding ribbon that I had bought along with all of the silk flowers that I had picked up at Joann's around the same time as I had picked up the fabric.

How I went about constructing the corsage was fairly simple! I had gathered a bundle of flowers in a pleasing design...similar to the designs that I had made previously to make sure that they look like your average corsages. Personally, I think the best part about using fake flower is that they will never die... which is why I've always made them that way as of late.

After arranging the flowers, I wrapped them in place using floral wire. Then I had glued them in place using my hot glue gun, later gluing the ribbons in place and the elastic band for my wrist.

It's not too difficult of a process so long as you follow an idea or look really! I urge anyone that really looks forward to a dance with someone that they really like to try it out.

Materials are fairly cheap, and if you're going to a place like Michael's or Joann's,  you have the luxury of getting tons of coupons that can stack in insane amounts. If you're going to buy your supplies online, you're in luck because there are so many great places to go so long as you do your research.

But thank you for reading! I'm excited to say that we have one more post left to go.. and that's our Prom pictures prep & Final photos post! Thanks for reading lovelies!

Busy Days; Cute Faces

Hey guys! So I'm back for today with two new posts. One being a throwback to the freakishly frustrating Prom day and the other will be an art post of some sort (yes.. I'm still decided on that..)!

Although on the day of prom, it was oh so much more than just a prom prep day! And not for me...definitely not for me.. but that's besides the point. On the day of prom, Reis and I had walked all the way over to Cafe Maji by our school. (If you didn't know.. yeah.. it was me that found it and made it popular amongst our classmates.. I'm sorry..)

We enjoyed a little brunch there..

I got what I usually get...

While Reis actually got.. food...like a smart human being...

Off topic but he always comments on how many pictures I take but I love taking pictures... it's a great way to remember my experiences.. and I'm that kind of person with him. Is that so wrong? (I know it's not but still I think about it,,)

Now I didn't manage to get any photos of us helping set up the district art show.. but I do remember that my art teacher made a post about it and you can see it here: http://artisun.blogspot.com/2015/05/2014-2015-district-art-show.html

But basically we had gone to help set up the district art show. Setting up a lot of different and amazing art pieces on tables and on the walls. It was such an amazing experience honestly! (oops I did steal a quick pick of the one that we organized below!)

It was such an interesting experience working with reis that way.. I felt bad because I was ordering him around to move the art pieces and to do so as carefully as possible.. but it was also because he had the height that I unfortunately lacked. Regardless of everything, it was sure a fun experience for the two of us!

Afterwards, we got driven over to Emily's house super fast by the wonderful Bianca! I had taken care of all of Emily's beautiful eye makeup. From her amazing gradient eye shadow to her eyelashes! If you're interested in learning about how I went about it.. here's the link to the blog post here: http://perfumepleasures.blogspot.com/2015/07/emilys-prom-eye-makeup-testing.html

The magical moment where the true princess in her final form transformation can be seen above! What a lovely capture~

And she's BEAUTIFUL! What a lovely person Emily is. Inside and out. But today's a special day and so she has to be especially princess-like. Now, she's off to take her prom photos with Heather that you can see below.

Yes.. I'm one of those people.. getting each and every one of the photos...

Afterwards.. once we saw them off and doing their own little thing (I'm sure there are pictures of me on facebook somewhere doing more than what you see above)....after I put on Simon's boutonniere because both Emily and Simon were terrified of hurting one Simon...

We went to watch Pitch Perfect 2 in the movie theaters!

It was such a fun experience finally watching a movie with Reis. I've been holding off on it because I would do it all the time in my previous relationships but we finally did it and we had the time of our lives. We both had watched Pitch Perfect the day before and he knew how excited I was for the second movie... solely listening to the Pitch Perfect soundtrack on replay for a good two and a half weeks to be as pumped up as I was... so it was nice.

At the end.. we figured out that it wasn't as great as we had originally expected it to be. It was pretty.. lame. Unlike the first movie, there had actually been a plot line this time around but nonetheless.. it wasn't the best it could have been. I did have fun though! Oh so much fun.

Afterwards.. we both agreed that we were hungry.. so we had gone out to get something to eat. But.. because Reis made the decision that he was going to buy soda and the like earlier... we didn't have that much to spend at the end of the date.

So thankfully like I had originally planned all along! We went out to get a BEAUTIFUL. PIZZA. CHEESE. GARLIC. PRETZEL. It tasted as if heaven was a place on Earth.

And to be completely honest.. although the day had been insane and crazily busy and frustrating.. it was everything we knew we had wanted it to be. A little bit of fun. A little bit of crazy. A whole lot of busy and eventful. And especially... a whole lot of love and kisses.

Thanks for reading! I'll be back again today with another post lovelies!
