This post is more so just a progression / timeline post rather than anything else. In case anyone was interested in seeing the progression of the piece and why it might have turned out to be this way, here are the shots and the progression into why it had become what it has! I used (obviously) a draping technique and I worked without really trying and intending not to really work to a specific design as I prefer to find and enjoy a design as I go.
Nothing sewn. Fabrics newly dyed; pre machine washed felt fabrics.
Day 1 -- End
Progression from the day before. Contemplating on a look.
Fabrics found in the donated specialty fabric bins. Preferred with the cape/caplet look, confused about the blue.
With Cape--
Without Cape--
Looks a little awkward without the cape.
Uneven throughout the back.
Day 2 -- End
Fabrics have been washed.
Fabrics have shrunken, still damp in photo.
Preferred look and design. Next step: Embellishments.
Dress form later had to be nailed into the cardboard tube as it slid down due to the weight.
Day 3 -- End
Fabric after applying the free form quilting technique--
Dress Form with the added cardboard base for support--
Day 4 -- END
The dress had finally been sewn together to form a dress. Tried on for the first time.
Day 5 -- END
I had gone to Joann's and purchased several embellishments to use on the dress.
Day 6 -- END
Interfacing has been fused to the fabric
White elastic strapless bra had been dyed in the RIT dye.
Day 7 -- END
Slowly but surely coming along. Straps are not sewn down yet.
Dress needs to be hemmed properly.
Day 8 -- END
Dress is finished.
Day 9 -- END
